Manny Ramirez still providing late night fodder for Letterman, Leno

Manny Ramirez has a new No. 1 fan: Alex Rodriguez.

Rodriguez had become the No. 1 butt of steroid jokes for David Letterman and Jay Leno, but he has been replaced in recent days by Ramirez.

‘The Hudson River is a beautiful body of water,’’ Letterman said last night during his monologue. ‘They say it has more chemicals in it than Manny Ramirez.’’

That doesn’t mean Letterman is ignoring A-Rod.

‘Despite what you may think looking at me, I’ve had a lot of trouble in my life with the babes,’’ Letterman said. ‘But guys like Alex Rodriguez have no trouble at all. Two nights ago, he’s in a bar downtown making out with Kate Hudson. I mean, let’s face it, this is the first time this guy has gotten to second base all season, but that’s a different story. I know for a long time, Kate had a thing for Manny Ramirez, but then he got pregnant. He was taking those female hormones ....’’

A couple of nights before, Letterman said of Ramirez: ‘He held a press conference and announced that he’s expecting twins. Then he’s coming to New York City to play Maria in ‘West Side Story.’ ‘’

Leno’s best line: ‘Manny Ramirez has apologized to his Dodger teammates.... He’s a man and he apologized. You know what that means? He is still on the female drug, obviously. In fact, today he baked the team a Bundt cake.’’
