Norman Strawder, 56, and Bejamin Clemmons, 36, two black men, were fatally shot at 1749 E. 54th Street at about 5:35 a.m. Monday, March 3. The two men were standing outside when they were shot several times. Strawder was hit in the torso. Clemmons was hit in the head, torso and right leg. Residents discovered the two wounded men after the gunfire ended, said Homicide Det. Meghan Aguilar from LAPD’s Newton Division. Clemmons was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m. by paramedics. Strawder was taken by ambulance to County-USC hospital, where he died at 6:08 a.m. The motive for the shooting is unknown, Aguilar said. The two men were not related, she added. Update: On Thursday, April 17, Councilmember Jan Perry announced a reward of $75,000 for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the double homicide.
