Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Coach Kevin Rooney was feeling a lot more confident Monday that standout quarterback Dayne Crist, pictured left, will be able to play Friday in the Knights’ Pac-5 Division playoff opener against visiting Newport Harbor.
Crist had to leave last week’s game against Encino Crespi in the second quarter with a mild concussion, threatening his availability this week.
But Rooney said Monday, ‘I think he’ll be able to play.’
That’s great news for Notre Dame, which struggled badly on offense after Crist went out of the game during a 23-3 loss to Crespi on Friday.
Also, Notre Dame is promoting talented sophomore quarterback Ryan Kasdorf to the varsity after he led the sophomore team to a 10-0 record.
