Palisades (17-2, 1-0) has performed superbly all season. The victory over Hamilton on Wednesday was the Dolphins’ fourth straight and their 14th in the past 15 games.
But Friday’s game against visiting Fairfax (11-2, 1-0) will be more telling.
Can Palisades’ grind-it-out, wear-’em-down defensive style impact the young-but-tall Lions, who are led by 6-10 junior Renardo Sydney, 6-6 junior Solomon Hill and 6-3 guard Chris Solomon, the lone senior?
I don’t know if the Dolphins can apply full-court pressure on the Lions for 32 minutes, but if Palisades can be patient on offense and not be lured into an up-and-down running game, it can show that the Western League race will not be only a two-team contest between Fairfax and Westchester.
