Brian Taylor, the coach at Los Angeles View Park Prep, left on a plane for New Jersey Thursday night after his team’s appearance in the City Section small schools championship game, because on Saturday, Princeton will be honoring him during a ceremony.
Taylor played for Princeton from 1969-72, then was the rookie of the year in 1973 in the American Basketball Assn.
He’s the head of schools for View Park. His son, Bryce, was a standout at North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake and Oregon and is playing in Germany. Another son, Brendyn, is a sophomore starter for View Park, which lost to LACES, 58-56, on Thursday.
FOR THE RECORD: An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported Princeton would be retiring Taylor’s jersey.
