Stockton St. Mary’s (29-2) became a seven-time state champion in girls’ basketball by winning the state Division II title with a 64-48 victory over Rialto. It was St. Mary’s third consecutive championship.
The Rams used a relentless full-court pressure defense to force turnovers en masse, and Rialto (33-4) could never come up with a strategy to take care of the basketball.
Rialto finished with 33 turnovers and lost despite making 20 of its 36 shots (56%). Brittani Walker had 17 points for Rialto. Courtney Range led St. Mary’s with 17 points.
