Consolidated Foods changed its name to Sara Lee.

At a special meeting in Chicago, the stockholders of the Chicago-based conglomerate voted to change the company’s name, effective April 2, to Sarah Lee Corp. The company--whose divisions include Hanes Hosiery, Kitchens of Sara Lee, L’eggs Products, Douwe Egberts, Aris Isotoner, Chef Pierre, Hillshire Farm, Electrolux and Nicholas Kiwi--said it wanted the change because “Sara Lee is our first major consumer brand and has been recognized as our most prominent brand for decades.”
