Hot Oilers Tied for 2nd

The West Los Angeles College baseball team, after climbing into a tie for second place with Antelope Valley in the Mountain Valley Conference, will play a Non-league game against the Cal State Los Angeles junior varsity Wednesday at noon at Cal State.
In conference play, Canyons (5-1-1) has taken first place. The Oilers and Antelope Valley are 4-3, followed by Valley (3-4) and Mission (1-5-1).
The Oilers, on a four-game winning streak, have a .283 team batting average and a 4.99 earned-run average.
Pitcher Mike Asprey (2-2 with a 7.25 ERA) or Lee Carballo (3-1 and 2.65 ERA) will start against the Diablos. The top hitters are first baseman DeJon Watson (.400), designated hitter Lorenzo Leskey (.380) and left fielder Victor Hithe (.300), who is leading the team with 23 RBIs).
