MD Computer

I saw the article in The Times (April 4), which said that there is a new computer service available to physicians by which they can learn if a prospective patient has filed any malpractice suits against any other physicians in the past.
By like token, are there any plans afoot for a computer service for prospective patients that would tell them if a physician they are seeing, or plan to see, has had any malpractice suits filed against him, the nature of the lawsuit and outcome?
With so many incompetent physicians in practice today, I feel such a computer service is sorely needed, and would be used by the public, as well as hospital administrators and other health services.
