Legal claims against San Francisco are costing the city $10 million each year, and the rapidly rising number of lawsuits has made it the most-sued city of its size in the nation. Nearly 6,000 legal claims were filed last year against San Francisco, more per capita than any other California city. Los Angeles recorded about the same number of legal claims, although it is four times as populous.
