Burglars Disrupt Work of Wild-Bird Rescuers

A burglary has temporarily disrupted the work of a volunteer San Fernando Valley group that rescues injured wild birds, its director said Tuesday.
Taffy Beauvais said the Wildbird Care and Rehabilitation Fund lost its typewriter, telephone, address files, two microscopes, medical lamp and radio in a burglary at its Studio City office over the weekend.
“It really handicaps us,” Beauvais said.
She said the typewriter is needed for the group’s fund-raising and educational mailings. The lamp and microscopes are used for examining birds.
She said the agency has no funds to replace the equipment.
