Man Held in Hit-Run Death of Motorcyclist

A23-year-old San Fernando man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of manslaughter and felony hit-and-run driving in the death of a Chatsworth motorcyclist on the Simi Valley Freeway in Mission Hills two weeks ago, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officer Phil Lammi said Fortino Delgadillo’s arrest stemmed from an accident that killed John R. Martin, 41, when he fell from his motorcycle and was run over by Delgadillo’s car in the freeway’s eastbound lanes just west of Sepulveda Boulevard on April 16.
Martin was going at least 80 m.p.h. when his motorcycle spun out of control into the path of Delgadillo’s car, police said.
The car did not stop, but the accident tore off one of its license plates, from which investigators traced the vehicle’s owner, police said. Delgadillo was questioned after the accident, police said, but told investigators he was not in the car at the time of the crash.
