Egypt Envoy Sees Early Mubarak-Peres Summit

TEL AVIV — Egypt’s chief diplomat in Israel said Thursday that he believes a summit meeting will be held “within a month” between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Prime Minister Shimon Peres.
“I am very optimistic that the meeting can be held,” said Charge d’Affaires Mohammed Bassiouny. He added that the last outstanding issue for Egypt is that Israel agree to arbitration in a border dispute over Taba, a beachfront strip of land along the Red Sea claimed by both Egypt and Israel and currently controlled by Israel.
