The World : Tories Slip in Ontario Vote

Voters in Ontario, Canada’s most powerful province, reelected a Progressive Conservative administration but left Premier Frank Miller with a shaky minority government. Miller’s party won 52 out of 125 seats, nine short of the 63 needed for a majority government in Ontario’s three-party system. The opposition Liberal Party scored the biggest gains, winning 20 additional seats for a total of 48. The New Democratic Party took the remaining 25. While pre-election polls had predicted a slide in support for Miller, none had forecast the surprising setback for the Tories.
