Originally published last year in England, this book is still quite up to date. Its high-spirited photographs and hip but sensible advice may be just the ticket for fashion adventurers, but the book is clearly not intended for those who outfit themselves in a more classic mode. In any case, there is plenty of information here for anyone who is unclear, for instance, on how to make cropped pants look good on short legs (“. . . cut back on colour mixing . . . and if you’re very short, go for the sleekest, slimmest-fitting trousers your figure can take”). Or for those not sure about the new rules on how to wear bold stockings, there is likewise plenty of advice, such as this on dotted tights: “. . . (they’re) best in black. In paler shades they can look like a disease.” For anyone who wants to have more fun with fashion, this volume provides both creative and useful guidelines.
