With all five top-seeded teams still alive, the Southern Section high school baseball playoffs will move into the quarterfinals today.
Only two of those teams will have home games, however. Santa Ana Mater Dei (24-1) of the 4-A Division, the No. 1 team in the nation according to USA Today, will entertain Huntington Beach Ocean View (20-7), and Palos Verdes Chadwick (10-7) will be at Santa Monica Crossroads (21-3-1) in a Small Schools game.
In the 3-A, top-seeded Cerritos Gahr (26-3) will play at Fullerton Sunny Hills (21-5) after two straight home games to open the playoffs. But this will be the second consecutive road game for Diamond Bar (24-2) of the 2-A and Whittier Christian (18-2), playing at Newport Harbor (16-10) and Van Nuys Montclair Prep (18-7), respectively.
