Doctor Arrested; Linked to N.Y. Brink’s Robbery

PHILADELPHIA — A doctor described as a terrorist and accused of treating a radical after the botched $1.6-million Brink’s robbery in New York four years ago has been captured with another revolutionary, the FBI announced Friday.
Dr. Alan Berkman, 39, of New York City, and Elizabeth Duke, 44, of Austin, Tex., were arrested at an undisclosed suburban Philadelphia location Thursday night, said John Hogan, FBI special agent in charge of the Philadelphia office.
Both were members of the May 19 Communist Movement, said Hogan, who described it as a group dedicated to overthrowing the U.S. government.
Berkman, who has been a fugitive since early 1983, and Duke were to be arraigned on charges of violating federal weapons and false identification laws, Hogan said. Earlier this month in New York, police arrested Marilyn Jean Buck, whom authorities say Berkman treated after the Nanuet, N.Y., robbery attempt Oct. 20, 1981.
