Laker Supporters Still Celebrating

Scott Ostler suggests we should canonize Red Auerbach as the “patron saint of bad sportsmanship.” Intriguing. However, Mr. Auerbach is quite alive, so we may have to settle for ordaining him as the high priest of no sportsmanship, with his cigar smoke as the incense that he offers upon the altar of the Boston Garden. His antics used to infuriate me, but no longer. Anybody who could watch this series and claim the best team didn’t win is more to be pitied than censured.
