Man, 71, Killed in Accident: A 71-year-old man was killed late Monday when the small truck he was driving smashed into the rear of a stopped tractor-trailer on Hazard Avenue near Golden West Street. The victim, Murray Lanarand of Westminster, suffered severe head and chest injuries in the 11:23 p.m. accident and was dead on arrival at Fountain Valley Community Hospital, police said. Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer, John G. Garania, 29, of Santa Ana, had stopped his truck to open a gate when the accident occurred. He was not cited.
