The City Council voted unanimously this week to support an offshore oil-drilling compromise that would spare about 90% of the sea bed off of California from oil drilling. . . . The City Council has approved plans by the California Department of Transportation to install left-turn pockets on Pacific Coast Highway at Pearl Street. Caltrans officials said there have been 35 accidents at the intersection in the last three years. . . . Mayor Barbara Doerr was turned down for the third time in as many weeks in her effort to name Engin Uralman to the Harbor Review Board. She said she will present a new nomination at next week’s council meeting.
