Western Avenue

I have thoroughly enjoyed your series of articles written by Patt Morrison on Western Avenue, as I have driven that street off and on since the 1940s.
It was pleasurable to read its history and recall many of the sights that have disappeared.
I remember a series of dips way down Western in the boonies where, in a convertible on a night of low-lying fog, one could travel along with one’s head going in and out of the fog as the car went up and down.
On a recent Sunday, on an old-fashioned California day, I drove from Franklin and Western all the way to the ocean as we used to do before the freeways, and, due to your articles, found the whole trip nostalgic, fascinating and enlightening.
I had a wonderful time.
