Three Views of Al Martinez

Al Martinez produced a gem in “Three Guys Talking About Death” (Aug. 22). The depth, sensitivity and understanding haunt me still.
Cobalt blamed the senseless death on Rambo. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, the pioneer on death and dying in the United States, might have said it was the “Hitler” in the boy who pulled the trigger.
Whatever the name might be, isn’t it time for the entertainment industry to take a long, hard look at the heroes they’re setting up for American youth to emulate--and cease and desist?
Somehow we just don’t need teen wolves, kids who jimmy computers, youth who need sex more than love. We could use patience, understanding and intelligence. And, if not now, when?
