Volleyball Roundup : Read, Burdue Lead Chapman Past CSLA

Brenda Read had 12 kills and Pamela Burdue had 15 service points to help the Chapman College women’s volleyball team beat Cal State Los Angeles, 15-9, 15-13, 15-7, Tuesday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match played in the Panthers’ gym.
Chapman, the 10th-ranked Divison II team, is 2-2 in conference and 14-7 overall. The Golden Eagles are 0-3 and 3-10.
In Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. action:
Fullerton 3, UC Irvine 1--Led by Wendy Knapp’s 15 kills, the Titans defeated the Anteaters, 9-15, 15-9, 15-6, 15-13, at Fullerton for their first conference victory. The Titans are 1-7 in the PCAA and 8-15 overall, while Irvine is 0-6 and 4-8.
In NAIA District 3 action:
Cal Lutheran 3, Southern California College 0--The Kingsmen defeated the host Vanguards, 15-12, 15-11, 15-10, to improve their record to 4-2 in conference and 11-5 overall. The Vanguards, who were led by Carolyn Kienast’s 14 spikes and 14 digs, are 0-5 and 4-7.
In exhibition action:
Athletes in Action 3, Biola College 0--Behind the play of Michelle Meely, Athletes in Action defeated Biola, 15-12, 15-4, 15-3, at Christ College of Irvine.
