FALL SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS : Montclair Prep Wins

The Montclair Prep High girls’ volleyball team won the Heritage League Invitational by defeating Winward, 11-7, 11-8, in the championship game Saturday at La Canada High.
Montclair’s Cheryl Conly, a middle blocker, was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Conly, a junior, has been a key factor in leading the team to a 6-2 Alpha League record,
“Cheryl is definitely going to be a Division I college player,” Montclair Coach Greg Reece said.
Conly, middle blocker Amy Lehrner and setter Cindy Stein made the all-tournament team.
Dain Hurst had 11 goals in leading Royal High to a 23-11 win in nonleague water polo game against Righetti.
It was Royal’s sixth win in a row and its 12th in 15 games this season. Rob Toring and Mark Desrosiers scored three goals each. Royal goaltender Todd Jacobson had 10 saves.
The Cal Lutheran College soccer team defeated The Master’s College, 5-2.
Rick Marshall and Darwin Fish each scored one point for The Master’s, and goalie Jeremy Cook made 12 saves.
The Master’s is 2-11 overall, 1-6 in National Association Intercollegiate Athletics Division II play.
