Grabb Heads Field in UCLA Tourney

NEW YORK — Ten of the nation’s top 18 rated college tennis players will compete in the second annual Volvo All American championships at UCLA, Oct. 31-Nov. 3.
Jim Grabb of Stanford, ranked No. 3 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn., heads the 32-player singles field.
Other rated players include No. 4 John Ross, SMU; No. 7 Richey Reneberg, SMU; No. 9 Michael Kures, UCLA; No. 11 Rick Leach, USC; No. 12 Brad Pearce, UCLA; No. 14 Jorge Lozano, USC; No. 15 Jan Sandberg, South Carolina; No. 17 Steve Devries, California; and No. 18 Greg Hahn, Alabama.
The select singles field includes returning collegiate All Americans, players picked by regional committees of the ITCA, four suvivors of a pre-tournament quaifying event and two wild-card selections.
