We applaud The Times’ Nov. 3 article on the visit of American Muslim leader Warith Deen Muhammad and his views denouncing Louis Farrakhan. As American Muslims, we totally reject Farrakhan’s use of black supremacist ideas to rally support for himself.
True economic, social and political development can never be gained by singling out scapegoats or blaming others. What is needed are strong voices of leadership that will face up to the reality of what we ourselves have the power to do to advance as a people.
We commend Imam Muhammad’s stand, and we thank The Times staff writer David Holley for pointing out that the overwhelming majority of Muslims find Louis Farrakhan’s views repugnant.
