USIU Women Lose to Cal Poly Pomona, 86-79

SAN DIEGO — Cal Poly Pomona, led by Vicky Mitchell’s 28 points and 21 rebounds, spoiled the United States International women’s basketball team’s season-opener Saturday, beating the Gulls, 86-79, at Serra High School.
The Broncos (2-0), the defending NCAA Division 2 champions, led throughout most of the game.
Forward Toya DeCree scored 31 points and had 17 rebounds to pace USIU.
