Wisconsin Memories

What happy memories were evoked by Frank Riley’s Oct. 6 article on Wisconsin and Door County. Ephraim was our summer vacation destination every year when I was growing up in the 1940s in Rockford, Ill. Every year we would visit the tip of the peninsula and I would look longingly across Death’s Door and wonder what was on Washington Island. However, my mother always balked at the ferry ride. But last year, at age 80, she finally gave in, so off we went in a pelting September rain and just loved the ferry crossing and bus ride around the island.
