Washington Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke bought the 150,000-circulation, Van Nuys-based newspaper from Tribune Co. of Chicago for $176 million. Tribune will use the proceeds to help defray the cost of buying KTLA-TV Channel 5 in Los Angeles. Not included in the price are: a parcel of undeveloped land on Sepulveda Avenue; the Greensheet shopper, a free weekly shopping guide, and a building in Montrose that Tribune leased to house auxiliary printing presses.
