CS Bakersfield Beats Cal Lutheran for 5th Win in Row

Cal State Bakersfield won its fifth straight game Friday night, beating Cal Lutheran, 74-67, at Civic Auditorium in Bakersfield.
Senior guard Leonard Brown scored 21 points and 6-6 forward Mario Williams got 11 of his 14 rebounds in the second half for Bakersfield as the Roadrunners overcame a 33-32 halftime deficit. Williams also scored 11 points in a reserve role.
Center Steve Cotner led the Kingsmen scorers with 18 points while his teammate, forward Pat Gibbs, added 14. Gibbs also contributed eight rebounds.
Overall, Cal Lutheran (2-9) was outrebounded, 59-39.
The game was close until the Roadrunners scored with 7:06 left which widened their lead to 60-54. Cal Lutheran got no closer.
Bakersfield (8-4), winner of seven of its last eight games, was led by center Paul Phizer and guard Jeff Hughes. Both scored 12 points. DeWayne Wright had eight points coming off the bench.
