Sections of a burned and dismembered body were found in two trash bins about 12 miles apart by firefighters who were called to extinguish separate dumpster fires in Los Angeles and Torrance, police reported today.
The victim, whose identity and exact cause of death remain unknown, was a man about 25 years old, police said. The head and lower legs were found late Wednesday night in a melted plastic bag in a bin behind a building on West 24th Street. Around midnight a decapitated body was found in the second trash fire, on Redondo Beach Boulevard in Torrance. No suspects are in custody.
