The stunning tragedy of the Challenger shuttle reminds us of how frail our life is, and how suddenly and unexpectedly disaster can engulf us. Yet I am sure that the crew members of Challenger would not have us draw the conclusion that we should hide in our rooms, afraid to face whatever lies around the next bend. They would urge us, rather, to step bravely into life as they did, living the best way we know how, saying all the words of praise and love that should be said, and savoring every moment of life as it comes to us.
