Valhalla High Forfeits Change Playoff Race

EL CAJON — The Grossmont League boys’ basketball playoff picture changed this week when it was learned Valhalla High School had to forfeit three league games and seven overall for using an ineligible player.
Monte Vista, which picked up a victory because of the forfeiture, is tied for second place with Mt. Miguel at 9-3. Helix (7-5) and El Cajon (4-7) also gained wins through the decision.
Valhalla, which had won five straight before losing to Grossmont Tuesday, is now 2-10 and 2-17.
Here are the revised standings: El Capitan, 10-1; Monte Vista, 9-3; Mount Miguel, 9-3; Grossmont, 7-4; Helix, 7-5; El Cajon, 4-7; Santana, 3-9; and Granite Hills, 1-11, 1-18.
