Marchers Protest at Philippine Consulate

Dozens of chanting marchers gathered outside the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles on Monday to peacefully protest the rule of President Ferdinand Marcos and declare opposition candidate Corazon Aquino the winner of the Philippine election.
“This is to assert that there is overwhelming proof Corazon Aquino has won the election and that Marcos should concede and step down,” said Edwin Batongbacal, spokesman for the Coalition Against the Marcos Dictatorship.
Earlier Monday, about two dozen Philippine natives stormed the consulate on the 12th floor of a Wilshire Boulevard high-rise and demanded the resignation of consular employees.
