Jackson Sets CSUN Record in Long Jump

Cal State Northridge junior Gary Jackson, in his team’s track opener, shattered the school record in the long jump with a leap of 25 feet, 3 inches, Saturday in a six-way, non-scoring meet at Northridge.
In other men’s events, Peter Yates of Great Britain won the javelin with a throw of 250-5, and the Northridge 400-meter relay team clocked a 42.78. CSUN freshman Dang Costley won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:07.0.
CSUN distance runner Alexandra Aguirre won the women’s 3,000 in 10:07.70, and freshman Cassandra Vance won the high jump at 5-7 1/2.
