Marcos Urged to Live on ‘Gilligan’s Island’

HONOLULU — Honolulu Mayor Frank Fasi has suggested that ousted Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos buy or lease the tiny Hawaiian island shown in the 1960s television series “Gilligan’s Island.”
“He’d be perfectly safe there, and it is up for sale,” Fasi said.
The 25-acre Coconut Island, in Kaneohe Bay off northeast Oahu, includes an estate home, eight cabins and a swimming lagoon. About half the island was recently put up for sale for $8.75 million.
Marcos, who fled the Philippines last Tuesday, is staying at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.
