Japan’s Kanai Wins Hong Kong Tourney

HONG KONG — Japanese veteran Seichi Kanai sank a 20-foot putt for a birdie 3 on the final hole to win the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Open golf championships Sunday.
The 46-year-old Kanai, who had an ace on the fifth hole, closed with a one-under-par 70 at the 6,762-yard championship course at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club for a four-round score of 285 in the $150,000 tournament.
He finished a stroke ahead of Australian Ian Baker-Finch, who fired an even-par 71 on the final day.
Kanai and Baker-Finch shared the overnight lead with Taiwan’s Hsieh Yu-shu and Canadian Jim Rutledge.
