Keith Hernandez Gets a Slap on the Wrist--and He’s Complaining
- Share via
If Keith Hernandez loves baseball as a player as much as I do as a fan, he should be grateful for the compassion and wisdom shown by Commissioner Peter Ueberroth in affording him the opportunity to continue to play and earn his salary of $1.35 million. Instead, he’s filing a grievance. Shame on him. He should consider the following:
--How much did he, or would he, spend to support his habit.
--What other occupation is he qualified for that would provide him with such a salary?
--He still has his freedom--he was never prosecuted and/or jailed for breaking the law--certainly he deserves more than just a slap on the wrist.
I would like to suggest to Mr. Ueberroth that when Mr. Hernandez and any others lose their grievances that they automatically be banned from baseball for a year and not allowed a second chance to merely pay the $135,000 fine for the privilege.
In hopes he will reconsider and not be made a pawn of the players’ union, but simply get on with the playing of the game of baseball, I remain a baseball fan.
