A Tustin man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at his wife during a family argument, police said Friday.
Shirley Sowa, 50, was not hit by the bullets but suffered powder burns on her face, Detective Jim Hein said.
She had been arguing with Gerald Sowa, 49, in their home in the 17000 block of Amaganset Way at about 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Hein said. Gerald Sowa pulled out a handgun and began shooting at his wife but missed, Hein said. The suspect fled in a pickup truck, and the wife called police, Hein said.
Gerald Sowa’s car was found parked at nearby Columbus Tustin Intermediate School, Hein said. Officer Dave Kreyling and his police dog, Axel, found the suspect hiding in bushes nearby. Sowa was booked into Orange County Jail and bail was set at $250,000, Hein said.
