36 Arrested in D.C. Protests

WASHINGTON — Sixteen people were arrested at the White House and another 20 at the Capitol today during Good Friday protests of Reagan Administration policies, including aid to Nicaraguan rebels and nuclear testing.
Those arrested at the Capitol were among 60 people who sat down in the middle of the Rotunda, read biblical passages aloud and sang protest songs. Eleven of those arrested at the White House were among 70 people who knelt in a circle in front of the executive mansion on Pennsylvania Avenue. Five others were arrested after they knelt in prayer on the White House lawn and refused to move.
