Valley College scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday to defeat Pierce, 6-2, in a nonconference game.
Dave Serpa’s two-run single in the top of the second inning gave Valley the lead, but it took four Valley pitchers to hold Pierce until the last inning. Two of Valley’s ninth-inning runs came on suicide squeeze bunts by Ted Weisfuss and Quinn Gregory.
Drew Ricker (5-2) had five strikeouts in five innings for Valley. Fred Riscen (4-2) took the loss.
Valley is 13-7 and trails College of the Canyons by two games in the Mountain Valley Conference.
