LONDON — The British actors union Equity banned its members today from working in South Africa and said members not obeying the ruling could face expulsion.
The ban, in protest against South Africa’s apartheid policies, follows a referendum held by the 32,000-member union, General Secretary Peter Plouviez said. The union’s ruling council will meet next week to decide on the penalty for those not obeying the ban.
