It Seems as Though the Dodgers Got Just What They Deserved

Well, who’s going to get Lasorda off the hook this time? He finally did the unforgivable and this isn’t second-guessing by a long shot. He should be fined the equivalent of Guerrero’s salary for the next three months. Not since they sent Dizzy Dean in to pinch-run have managers been so unlucky.
To send your top player into a hazardous situation is not the thinking of a competent manager. Guerrero was stealing in a spring training game. He shouldn’t even steal in the regular season. Does anyone ever wonder why Ted Williams stole so few bases in his career? McCarthy and Cronin preferred their .400 hitter to play every day. Knowledgeable baseball men have reservations on Lasorda’s savvy.
