Police made a public appeal for help in identifying the body of a newborn baby girl found last week in a vacant lot in the Silverlake district. The tiny body, believed to be that of an Asian girl who weighed about seven pounds at birth, was found April 7 by a youngster in the 1100 block of Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Lt. Vance Proctor said. Investigators believe the infant had been left in the hillside lot a week or 10 days earlier, Proctor said. The cause of the infant’s death had not been determined. A section of umbilical cord was attached to the body, Proctor said. Anyone with any information about the child is asked to contact the Police Department’s Abused Child Unit.
