Bain Throws Discus 179-1 to Become Top Qualifier for the CIF State Meet

Corona del Mar High School’s Michael Bain threw the discus 179 feet 1 inch at the state qualifying meet at Valencia High School Wednesday to become the top qualifier to the CIF state meet June 6-7 at Cerritos College.

Bain’s throw bettered his personal mark by seven inches. The No. 2 qualifier was Al Navarro of Northview at 172-6, followed by Chris Baze of Hesperia at 168-1, Lance Ane of Saugus at 164-8 and Scott Paulson of Valencia at 161 feet.
