Westwood : Top Award for Heart Volunteer

Dr. Martin D. Shickman, director of the UCLA Extension department of continuing education in health sciences, won the American Heart Assn.’s highest volunteer honor, the Heart of Gold Award, from the association’s Greater Los Angeles Affiliates.
He was president of the Affiliates in 1971-72 and has worked as a volunteer for 20 years. Shickman helped obtain city and county funding for paramedic programs in Los Angeles. He is assistant dean for postgraduate medical education in the department of medicine and cardiology at the UCLA School of Medicine.
