Sam Hall Kaplan, in his comments (April 20) on Whittier Boulevard’s new steel arch and “its cold and strained” character, failed to mention that unlike most publicly financed landmarks, this one has two identical bronze dedication plaques; one on the north leg and the other on the south leg.
Apparently, the county Community Development Department, despite the county budget crisis, has taxpayers’ money to waste on ego-inflating bronze plaques.
