Santa Ana : Private Memorial for Slain Officers Approved
- Share via
The Board of Supervisors has approved a request to establish a privately financed memorial for county police officers killed in line of duty.
“This memorial will express our appreciation for the valiant efforts our law enforcement officers have undertaken to keep the peace, including the laying down of their own lives,” said Supervisor Ralph B. Clark, board chairman.
County officials said the memorial probably will be placed in the Plaza of the Flags area in the Santa Ana Civic Center. The design will be decided after consultation between the county and the Sheriff’s Advisory Council, which requested the memorial.
The first to be honored will be police officers from 10 county cities, three county Sheriff’s deputies, two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and a California Highway Patrol officer.
