Councilman Accused of Double-Speak
I think Monterey Park Councilman Barry Hatch should be deported. He is proving to be a drain on the local taxpayers. He thinks he was elected to the U.S. Senate, judging from the preponderance of after-midnight resolutions dealing with national issues that he, Cam Briglio and Pat Reichenberger are passing. If Hatch wants to deal with national issues, perhaps he should spend his time writing his senator and not waste our evenings picketing to revoke such asinine measures.
I also have my doubts about whether he can speak English. He seems to be specializing in double-speak when he says he has nothing against immigrants and then passes an ordinance encouraging Gestapo-type tactics to herd them up for the train.

Editor’s note: The ordinance the writer refers to is a resolution passed by the Monterey Park City Council instructing police to cooperate with immigration authorities.
