New York Mets’ second baseman Tim Teufel and pitcher Ron Darling, who were involved in a scuffle with police in Houston early Saturday, waived a preliminary hearing on aggravated assault charges and were permitted to leave town with the team after Sunday’s game against the Astros.
Shaver ordered that the case be assigned to a grand jury. A date will be set for an examination trial for Teufel and Darling on third-degree felony charges.
